During the summer, our neighborhood hosts a fresh Farmer's Market on the green on the first and third Saturday morning of every month! It is such a wonderful event with yummy goodies like Pure Alabama Honey, homegrown tomatoes, homemade sourdough bread, fresh herbs and plants as well as beautiful arts and crafts!
This morning they even had all sorts of animal related booths like unique dog collars, animal art, and even doggies to adopt! Unfortunately, we slept in a little too late and didn't quite make it for all the main events.
We did make it in time to see J3Organics! John Obert and his Dad own the business and sell organic soil and home grown organic produce! They are one of the main providers for some of the local restaurants like Hot and Hot, Avo and Dram, and more!! John, or Obert as everyone calls him is a friend-of-a-friend that we have gotten to know. Brad and I have plans to visit his farm soon! I can't wait!!

I told Obert that I am growing a few herbs as well as a tomato and red bell pepper plant at my house! They are "certified organic" according to me since they are planted in organic soil and fertilized with organic fertilizer! He generously offered me some of his organic fertilizer to use!!!
For the best results, he recommended that I catch about 5 gallons of rain water in a bucket which shouldn't take long with all of the rain we have been getting! Then, I should put one packet of fertilizer in an old sock or pantyhose and put it in the water. Every once in a while, I should squeeze the fertilizer into the water and it will create a compost. Then, I can use 1/2 of the compost on each plant!!! Thanks for the advice and most of all for the fertilizer!!
I can't wait for some fresh organic produce from my own garden!!! Here are a few pictures of how my plants are looking now!
