This past weekend, we made another long journey to Indiana for the Oser family reunion! I really do love this trip and love getting to see the Midwest. We trek 6 hours, through 4 states -- Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana. Tom, Nicole, Taylor, Brooklyn, Grandma, Brad, Annie, and I traveled together between 2 cars. We rented a mini-mini which thrills Annie! And to be honest, it thrills Brad too! He loves the comfort and perks of the mini van and don't let him tell you otherwise!
Six hours wouldn't be so long and could even be relaxing in a way if this little nugget would sleep for at least some of it, but she kept her epic streak alive by not sleeping for one single minute there or back. We are still not sure how this is possible but she continues to prove to us that it is. We even gave her a dose of Benadryl on the way home with no luck.
We stopped at the gas station and she found a chair just her size!
We colored with a new favorite - glitter glue pens.
And we took selfies as we were pulling into our bed and breakfast!
As you can tell, we were really ready to stretch our legs and get out of the car!
Upon arrival, we checked out the bedrooms and all claimed a spot!
We also relished in the perfect weather...low 70's and zero humidity!
Brad, Annie and I got a great room with a queen bed for us and a twin bed just perfect for Annie! The owner of the house sure does like purple! We enjoyed purple sheets again even though we were not in the Lavender Escape room like we were last time!
Annie checked out the shower for us
and decided that it would do!
After getting everyone settled, we went to dinner at Fleig's Cafe in "downtown" Ferdinand which was just down the street from our bed and breakfast. Fleig's is the local bar where Tom and all of his friends hung out. The owner / bar tender is still the same and always fixes Tom the same drink when he comes back! Joanne especially loved the fried frog legs here. Yes, they are real frog legs. Ick. And their other famous dish is Turtle Soup. It is basically a vegetable soup that used to have real turtle meat in it. Now, it is just served with roast or chicken like more traditional vegetable soup (that has meat in it!).
Brooklyn knows just how to throw it back!
Love this picture of all of us outside Fleig's!
After dinner, we made our way to the St. Henry's town festival!
It was so much fun and a perfect way to enjoy the beautiful weather!
Annie went right to the ring toss.
She hooked a few and won a can of Pepsi!
Next, she enjoyed some time in the bounce house followed by the "duck pond" and won some green beads!!
Then, Daddy won her a big pink ball by popping balloons with darts!
Then, we made our way to the live music by "5th Degree Burn."
I thought they were good and we enjoyed some classic rock songs!
Annie loves to dance and had no inhibition dancing away! She is not shy and I love that she jumps in to most situations without fear or shyness!
After dancing, we enjoyed an ice cream cone!
At first, she and I were sharing but that didn't work out very well for me so we each ended up with our own!
Finally, we made our way back to the bed and breakfast for a bath in the big tub and bed! In Indiana, it stays light until about 9:30 or 10pm. It is wonderful and strange all at the same time. It really throws off your natural cadence but it definitely allows for you to make the most of your day!
