We kicked off our Christmas season this year by picking out our christmas tree at the boy scout lot! They set-up at the front of Ross Bridge so we just walked to the lot at sunset one evening! It felt special to just walk!
The boy scout who helped us managed to snap this great iPhone pic with the moon, the sunset, and the clock tower in the background! I love it! Afterwards, he walked our tree to our front door! So cool!
We also attended the Lighting of the Green Ceremony at Ross Bridge in early December! We started off the evening with a song and dance performance by Santa and his elves. I have to admit - Santa was a terrible singer and extrememly country. It was a little awkward really!
Then, we decided to wait in line to see Santa! Annie wasn't so sure about seeing Santa and thought about taking off out of the side door! Silly girl!
Turns out she really didn't want to see Santa. Poor thing - she cried so hard!
Don't worry - we took these photos very quickly and were out of there in no time!
We should have just saved ourselves the 1.5 hour wait since Annie was so upset by Santa and since this was not the happiest Santa. I don't think he smiled at all.
Oh these make me so sad to look at!
I do hope she enjoys Santa more next year, but I think we will have to go somewhere else to see him! No more long lines again! Whew!
On our way home, we saw the Clydesdale horses giving carriage rides and we wished we had done this instead! Next year, we will know just what to do!
And finally, on our walk home, we stopped and saw our neighbors house who went all out with their Christmas lights! Annie ended up without her boots on because she stepped in horse poop :( But, she loved the Christmas lights and decorations!
Just a few days before Christmas, we went to the live Nativity at Mountain Brook Baptist Church! It was a cold night with drizzling rain, but it was really neat!
Before the show started, we got to pet a live camel, donkey, and several baby sheep! They were all so cute!
Annie loved petting the sheep the most!
She even wanted to feed them a little hay!
Such sweet excitement!
She was so good with the animals and they were pretty unconcerned (in a good way) with all of the kiddos running around!
Finally, the show started and it was really special! I think Annie will really enjoy the show in a few years when she can understand better what is going on, but we may make this part of our annual family pre-Christmas tradition!
