Annie's First Haircut

On March 13 at 19 1/2 months old, Annie got her first hair cut!  I barely snipped one long piece in the back and a few long wispies in the front a long time ago, but this was the first real hair cut.  Brad was able to take a little time off of work and go with us so it was a family affair!

We started off the morning with breakfast at Jacks!
Annie definitely approved of the biscuits and gravy!

The lady who cuts my hair does not cut children's hair but she suggested Stephanie at Salon Bella.  I wanted to make sure Annie's first cut was a good one to get us on the right path of good cuts and nice looking hair!  And, since she has curls, I didn't want someone to over cut it and it end up way to short.

We were not sure how Annie would do.  She really hates wearing bows, hats, hoods, etc so I didn't think she would like a stranger combing and cutting her hair.  When we arrived at the salon, she was a little unsure.  Thankfully, she sat happily in Brad's lap and was able to take in her surroundings before we got started.
I love this sweet picture!

Stephanie's station

I took a few before pictures to document her long and untamed hair.  I really wasn't very sentimental about getting Annie's hair cut because it needed it so badly!

Getting started!

All brushed out.  I love those little lips tucked in!

Annie surprised us and did GREAT!!  She never cried and she even seemed to enjoy it!
She does love to have her hair brushed just like her Mama!

She has such beautiful hair!

Stephanie was super sweet and patient!

Annie did just what Stephanie asked and turned her head left, right, up, and down!

She did move mid-cut sometimes but Stephanie still managed to do a great job!

I love this sweet face!!!

Whoa, look at that long hair!

Annie's eyes looked amazing with the blue Toy Story apron on!

I couldn't stop taking pictures because I loved each little expression she was making!

Stephanie stopped at one point and let me check out her progress.  I didn't want to cut Annie's hair too short and have her look like a big girl just yet!

But, I decided it could use a little more cutting so Stephanie continued on.

Finishing up with the blow dryer!

And a family picture to document the occasion!

Stephanie gave Annie some Smarties after her hair cut and that sealed the deal with Annie!  She loved them and walked away excited about her hair cut!  We were thankful and relieved that Annie did so well!!  And most of all, her haircut looked great!  It was just enough to shape up her hair but not enough to make her look like a big girl!  Success!

18 Months

Annie turned 18 months on January 28th.   I cannot fully express how much fun these past few months have been!!!  She is FULL OF LIFE every day!!!

We went to the doctor for a well baby check-up and these were her stats:

Weight: 23 lbs  05 oz (25%)
Height: 34 inches (95%)

Her weight percentile has dropped because she is just getting taller and taller these days!   She looks like a big girl because her baby belly is going away.

In addition to being full of life, Annie is still full of love!  She is always so loving and affectionate.  She loves everyone in her family so much and talks about them often.  This month, she started asking that we pray for family members.  She will hold my hand, say someones name like "Dada," and bow her head to let me know she wants to pray.  Then, I will pray out loud for this person!  Once we are done, she will name another person.  It is the sweetest thing and we do it throughout the day!

Emily strained her neck and had a pretty severe muscle spam that caused her a lot of pain and limited mobility for about a week.  Annie saw her and never forgot to pray for her neck each day thereafter!

She loves to wear my shoes or Brad's shoes and try to walk in them!

Just like Mama!

A few times, we have layed on our "big bed" and watched TV.  She will sit still for about 10 minutes!  It is good snuggle time and good for a little rest for me!  She still loves the Mama/Dada movie!

She knows how to get comfortable!  :)  She also sits across her own chair with her feet propped up on the arm just like this!

Sometimes she likes to get strolled in the baby doll stroller!

Rollins and Kat came to play one day!  They play well together and had so much fun!  Such a sweet picture!

Here they are playing chase around our house!

One day Annie brought her potty (that we never used and have since returned) out into the keeping room.  She sat on it and proceeded to ask for her breakfast.  She sat there and had a few bites!  Funny girl!

At lunch one day with Daddy, we discovered that she loves oranges!!  She can eat an entire orange if she is interested!

Before bed every night, Annie and I put her pjs on, brush her teeth, read books, sing songs, and say our prayers.  This month, she started asking for two books each night by holding up all of her fingers and overlapping her second finger over her pointer finger.  She doesn't really know how many two is but it is so cute to see her ask every night!

Thinking hard about which books to read!

First time I eve got Annie's hair in any kind of bow, ponytail, etc.  She is not a fan of having her hair held back, but this was so cute!   Too bad she only let me do one pig tail!

We attempted our first arts and crafts project at home.  I was hoping that Annie could make homemade Valentine's card for our family members, but she was not a fan!  She painted for a few short minutes but just didn't love it.  Then, I painted her hands to try and make hand prints and she LOST it!  I'm not sure why she hated having her hands painted so much, but she talked for weeks about how much she didn't like it.   Poor girl - I scared her.   Not sure when we will attempt painting again!

We did manage to make Daddy a card and get him so new cologne!

Talking and crusin' around the house!  She loves to pretend to be on the phone!

Texting and driving - uh oh!

Snapped this picture just to document her awesome curly blond hair!

Took this picture just to document her hilarious outfit - pjs, church shoes, and a too small jacket!  She struck this model pose all on her own!

Another shot with tennis shoes and pjs!  This looks so uncomfortable to me but she requests it!

My little Valentine!

Our sweet neighbor, Charlotte who is 3 months younger than Annie gave her a Valentine card and some Nila wafers!  She took one bite out of every cookie before going back and eating them all!

Valentine's Day balloon for me from Brad and Annie!

Annie loves to help around the house!  She loves to help set the table!  She does a great job of taking the silverware and napkins to the table and putting them at each of our spots.  It is also a good activity when I am trying to cook and get dinner ready!

Annie will also pick up teeny tiny crumbs off the floor and throw them away!  It's funny what toddlers notice!  She is very good about throwing away anything that I ask her to take to the trash can!  Several times she will even take something to the trash without me asking!  I have found a few items that were not meant to be thrown away but only a couple of times so far!

Here she is taking over the swiffer duties!

Brad taught her about pockets and her shadow!  She now loves to put her hands or some little trinket in her pockets!  She also loves her shadow and like to dance or wave in order to watch her shadow react!!   Sweet girl!

Annie still loves to eat just about everything!  She loved our sushi dinner one night including one of my favorites - a tornado roll (salmon and cream cheese lightly fried) and tempura carrots and onions.  She attempted chop sticks but hasn't quiet mastered them!

Brad and Annie go for pre-dinner walks sometimes to give me time to cook!  One of their favorite spots is this high spot on the golf course over looking our neighborhood and the sunset!  I can't wait for Annie and me to join Brad on a short golf game to ride in the golf cart and practice putting!  I know she will love it and Brad will be so proud!

If Daddy is still working, Annie becomes my cooking helper!  She loves to help me with the salad spinner and also to help me squeeze lemons!

Papa & Annie making big plans for the sandbox he hopes to build her one day!

We played at Charlotte's house one day and she LOVED "feeding" Annie with Annie's baby doll food and spoon.  It was so funny because she kept doing it!  I love how these little girls already take care of their baby dolls and play so girlie!

Annie practicing her new "upside down" trick!

Wearing her hat again upon request and being so funny!!

Gangster style!  :)

Brad built Annie her first ever fort!  She liked it!

We went to the zoo with Wes, Sabrina, and Lynlee one Saturday in February.   We had so much fun!

Watching the gorilla eat lettuce!?!  They weigh 400lbs but are herbivores!  I had no idea!  My metabolism is slow but I am glad its not that slow!

Caught Brad with his eyes closed - too bad because its cute otherwise!

Annie loves the choo choo train!

Checking out the alligators!  I love this baby body!!

Daddies and their daughters!

Sweet friends being silly!

Annie loves for Layla to be included in most everything!  Annie offers her a baby bottle, kisses, pounds (fist pump), and high fives!  Also, she likes to let her baby "ride" Layla and wants Layla to hold hands with her.  Too funny!  Layla is a good sport with Annie and enjoys the relationship because of the crumbs Annie leaves behind!

Snack time, picnic style!
This picture makes me laugh with Layla in their just like a human!

Annie found herself a new seat right in the middle of the action!

First time at McDonald's indoor playground!  This is all she did.  I am so claustrophobic and I can't stand the thought of climbing through all those tunnels after her!

We love to play at the Ross Bridge playground in the afternoons!

Being rebellious on our walk!  She rode standing up and backwards for quite a while!

Annie doesn't usually let us forget the blessing - even before our pretend picnics!

Since I have been working on this post over a month and just cant seem to get it finished, I am going to list everything else in bullet points!  I am also out of pictures to go with each bullet point.  Being behind on the blog is so unmotivating!
  • Annie loves to take a bath!  he especially loves to line up her bath animals and point to each of them when I ask her where they are.    She knows the sounds for a lot of them!
  • Annie still loves her baby doll so much and wants her to do everything with her!  If Annie swings,  eats, watches a movie, reads a book, etc then baby swings, watches a movie, reads a book, etc.  It is so sweet and endearing to see her be so thoughtful and affectionate!  And just to get the record straight, she will occasionally throw her baby and thinks its funny!  Good thing she's not real.
  • Annie loves puzzles and is getting very good at them!
  • Annie recognizes my car and loves to look for it in any parking lot.  I am amazed at how good she is at finding it!  She also recognizes our neighborhood when we get close (such as RB Pwky) as well as our street and her house!  Amazing!
  • She loves big trucks!  We look for them on every drive and it keeps her pretty occupied and happy!
  • I have some fake apples for decor and Annie loves for us to hide them around the house so that she can find them! It's exactly like Easter egg hunting and was excellent practice for that!  She is really really good!
  • Annie learned how to go down our school bus slide face down and tummy down!  I am proud of her for being brave and adventurous!  She will do it on the small playground slide too!
  • Annie is very good at sharing and taking turns!  I am not sure how she learned to do so well but I am thankful!
  • Annie is talking more and more every day!  I know this is not a comprehensive list but she says:
Uh oh, Jo Jo, night night, mmmm (Emmie), hot,  and cold!  My favorite thing is that she has started to say her own name and call herself "Ninie" for Annie!  It is adorable!

This age is so sweet and so much fun! We love you Annie!!
