Her Looks

So, I started this post over a month ago, but I am just now getting to post it.  I have been wanting to post baby pictures of Brad, me, and our family so that we could see who Annie looked like.

First, a look back at Annie in her first month of life!

Annie - 7.28.11

Annie - 3 days

Annie - 1 week

Annie - 1 Month

Early on, we all thought Annie looked just like me and resembled my side of the family.   It is hard for everyone to see because I don't necessarily look just like my baby pictures, but I did think she looked just like me!  Certain faces and expressions especially looked just like mine!  I still think she has my ears, cheeks, nose, lips, and chin!

You can also see that Annie and I liked to keep our hand up by our head as newborns.  I even found an ultrasound picture of Annie with her arm up.  Genetics are amazing!

Brad said on the day that she was born that she reminded him of my Dad.  I think my Dad looks so cute here and so much like himself!  He also looks a lot like Emily and me as babies with our big eyes and bald heads!

And, we all agreed that she looked a lot like Jeffrey when he was a newborn!

Annie - 7.28.11

Jeffrey - 1.8.98

Here is my Mom's newborn picture.  I think it is so sweet with all of her hair, baby smile, and little bracelet on her wrist!  Mom has beautiful eyebrows as a newborn just like Annie!   I think Annie looks a lot like this picture although I can't pinpoint exactly why.  Maybe the nose and lips.  I do think I have my Mom's lips so that makes sense!

And, here is Elizabeth as a baby doing the "baby stretch!"  Annie does this all the time and makes that exact same face!  So cute!  I wish I had a picture of Annie doing the stretch too.

But, as all babies do, they change quickly.
These days, as I said in my last post, most people think that Annie looks a lot like Brad!

Brad - Newborn

Wow - I can't believe how much Annie looks like Brad!  I didn't realize it until I saw these two pictures of them at the same age in such a similar pose!  As you can see in the picture above, Annie definitely has Brad's blond hair and hairline.  And, I think she has his eyes although I am not completely sure yet.  And we all know that she has his length!

Finally, here is a couple of pictures of JoJo as a newborn at 6 weeks!  I love the newspaper announcement of new babies!  I have always thought that Brad looked a lot like his Mom so I would imagine that she and Annie will look similar too!

What do you think?

2 Months

Annie is 8 weeks old today!!
We are so in love with this little baby girl and so thankful for her!

She has been such a great baby and is truly making things easy on us!! We are having so much fun!!

We went to the doctor yesterday for her 2 month check-up.  Here are her stats:
Weight: 11 lbs 7 oz 75%
Height: 24" 97%
Head Circumference: 15 3/4"

1 Month
2 Month

She is growing like crazy!!  Brad and I were both shocked at how much she had grown in just 4 weeks.  We are so glad that she is healthy!  Unfortunately, she was due 5 vaccine shots and 1 oral vaccine today.  I opted to split up the vaccines so that it was easier on her.  She got 3 shots today and will go back for the rest next week.  Thankfully, she handled the shots very well.  She cried very very hard but recovered quickly and I don't think she had any fever all day.  She was a little sore from the shots but Tylenol seemed to help.

At 2 months, Annie is great at holding up her head.  We do some tummy time which she doesn't mind but she also lifts her head off of my shoulder for very long stretches any time I hold her.

She coos a lot and even laughed for the first time on September 18th (7 weeks)!  She loves for us to talk, read and sing to her and always looks like she wants to participate.  She is very alert and engaged.

She has been working on her hand-eye coordination which means that her hands are always moving and making their way to her mouth a lot.  This seems a little annoying for her since she can't control her hands perfectly.  Swaddling her up seems to relax her arms and allow her to rest.  We learned this from the "Happiest Baby on the Block" movie.

She is able to roll from her back to her side!  I discovered this when I put her down for a nap on her back and found her in her favorite position - on her side - at the end of the nap!

As for sleeping, she is doing great at night but does not nap all that well during the day.  She is able to go 4 hours between night feedings consistently and has even had a few 5 hour stretches and one 7 hour stretch.  I am so thankful for good rest at night.  After her early morning feeding, anytime between 5:00 and 7:00 am, Annie gets in bed with us and will sleep for a lot longer.  I love that she loves to cuddle!  Just within the last week, she has started having a "bedtime."  Its not a scheduled event and not usually at the same time every night, but anywhere between 7 and 10 depending on her nursing schedule, she will eat and then go to sleep for a long stretch.  This has been so nice and given Brad and me some good quality time at night together or to do whatever we need/want to do!

Layla wanted to be a part of the action!

Annie definitely had a growth spurt between 5 and 6 weeks (I think) and was eating every 2 hours for a couple of days, but now she is eating every 3 - 4 hours.  She still has her awake time after eating and then sleeps, but she won't stay asleep for very long.  She is easily woken and then has a hard time going back to sleep.  I am still trying to figure out how to help her nap during the day so she doesn't get overly tired.  Or maybe she doesn't need much nap time since she sleeps so well at night and so well first thing in the mornings??

We all think that Annie is looking more and more like her Daddy everyday!  Its so cute!  Friends usually say that she looks like Brad more than they say she looks like me.  I still have baby pictures of each of us to post so that you can see who she looks like, but I haven't gotten the post up yet.

As for what we have been up to, Annie and I had our first "play date" when she was 6 weeks!  She slept through most of it, but I enjoyed hanging out with the other Moms.  I loved hearing all about their birth experiences and advice, questions, etc about babies!  I hope that Annie can enjoy the other babies one day too!

Aunt Laurie also came for a visit and got to meet Annie at 7 weeks!  Aunt Laurie's name is "Annie Laurie" and one of the reasons I loved the name Annie!

We also finally made it back to church at 7 weeks!  It felt so good to be back and Annie did GREAT!  I gave her a bottle that I pumped during the service so we were able to make it through church and Sunday school without a peep!  She slept through all of Sunday school.  It was so fun to introduce her to everyone and show her off!

We have also been to more of Jeffrey's football games!  She always does great and loves being outside!

Finally, we have been grocery shopping again regularly (after all of the wonderful meals from friends were over), been to the chiropractor, out to eat a couple of times, and on lots of errands.  Each time I am amazed and thankful at how well behaved and adaptable Annie is in every situation!

Seriously Mom - enough already!

We are so thankful that Annie is so happy and healthy and we are loving every single minute with her!

Barnyard Dance

We have just started reading to Annie and she LOVES it!!  We bought the book Barnyard Dance by Sandra Boynton today and couldn't wait to read it to her!  I picked this book because I remember my little brother Jeffrey loving it!

Brad recorded while I read.  Annie listened intently and was all smiles!!!

I can't quit watching the movie!! Isn't she the best?!?!

What are your favorite children's books?  We need suggestions!

Sweet Baby Smile

We sure do love this sweet, smiling baby!!!

Yesterday, she even spit out her passi to flash me a big ol' smile first thing in the morning!!  You can't start your day off any better than that :)

And I'm so glad to report that her baby acne has finally cleared up!
