Brad's Birthday, The Lake, & Football!

We had a great weekend this weekend!!  Friday night, we celebrated Brad's birthday at Brock's with his family.  It is the nice restaurant in Ross Bridge Hotel.  I love being able to walk to dinner and walk home!  Unfortunately, I didn't take one picture :(

Saturday morning, we got up bright and early to head to the lake with friends!  We wanted to get away and enjoy the lake and the fall weather (except that its hardly been fall in Alabama yet).  Emily, Holly, Forsyth, Alison, Sarah and Andy joined us!

The weather was a little overcast Saturday morning but it eventually turned into a beautiful sunshiny day!  We laid out on the dock, took a boat ride, and then settled in for the Alabama game!  Thankfully, this crowd was all Alabama fans and serious ones!!  We made a rule that if you were not into the game and wanted to just talk instead that you must do that outside on the dock!  We are all very serious about watching our team and hearing every word and watching every play!!

As expected, Arkansas played us very well and even scared us a little in the first half.  Thankfully, the game ended in a win and everyone was in a great mood!

As soon as the game ended, we all jumped back on the boat for one more ride before the sun set.  Here are lots of pictures!

It was a gorgeous afternoon on the lake as the sun was going down!

Saturday night, Chef Sarah cooked us a delicious meal of Bourbon glazed ham and homemade biscuits!  Sarah, you can cook for us anytime:)  I wish I had a picture of our meal.

Sunday morning, we woke up to lots of clouds and rain.  We enjoyed a lazy morning on the back porch and Forsyth cooked us eggs, bacon, and left over biscuits for breakfast!  Unfortunately, the clouds and rain stuck around so we never even made it back to the dock.  We headed home after a great weekend!!  Thanks friends for joining us and thanks so much to my in-laws for letting us use the lake house!  We can't wait to go back!

"Ain't Nothing Like 'Em Nowhere"

Brad has been craving barbeque lately and especially Dreamland because of all the commercials they run during the football games!  He's been begging to go, but its not my most favorite place to eat :) but, I finally gave in and we made it there for dinner tonight!

We started off with the usual white bread and barbeque sauce then ordered a slab of ribs, the sausage plate, and baked beans.

We were honestly very disappointed in our meal.  The sausage was okay, not bad, but not great and the ribs were very tough and not tender at all.  Brad was reminded that he really doesn't like Dreamland very much and he wants me to help him remember this the next time the commercials start luring him in!

There really is nothing like 'em nowhere except at the Bar-B-Q Shop in Memphis!  We can't wait to eat there during Rhodes Homecoming weekend in late October!

Scott's Antique Market

Today, Leslie, Emily, and I went to Scott's Antique Market in Atlanta!!  I have been talking about going for two summers now so I'm so glad we finally made it happen!!

We left Birmingham bright and early and arrived in Atlanta around noon.  Emily and I were not looking for anything in particular, but Leslie was looking for a buffet / side table for her dining room.

We walked around the south warehouse first which is apparently the lower priced and lower end stuff.  I was actually worried that each warehouse would be much bigger and more overwhelming than they were, but thankfully, both were pretty manageable.

We saw beautiful fabrics, interesting jewelry and art, and some awesome pieces and some very strange pieces!  There was everything from real, stuffed lions to complete junk!  Something for everyone right!

I saw these cool antler chandeliers!  I thought they might look good at my parents cabin!

After finishing our search in the south warehouse, we dined at the fine establishment of Uncle Woody's concession stand!  Ha!  Our other option was a meat and three also inside the warehouse that looked a little too sketchy for us!

After lunch, we made our way to the North warehouse.  Several of the vendors were already packing up their stuff for the weekend, but we saw some beautiful pieces here!  It is a great place to get ideas even if you can't afford any of the pieces!  I think we might need to save our pennies before any of us bring home any true antiques.

Unfortunately, we all came home empty handed today, but we did have a great day shopping and catching up!

Labor Day Weekend at the Lake

This weekend, we went to the Oser's lake house to visit with the family and enjoy the perfect fall weather!  Saturday it was a high of 82 and sunny all day!!!

As much fun as we had, I think Layla had the most fun!  She jumped off the dock for the first time ever to retrieve her ball  in the water!  At first she did great, just jumping in without any instruction or fear.  Then, after a few jumps, she became more fearful and kind of "slipped" into the water.  We need to take another lab to the lake so that she can see how to jump off the dock properly!  Here is a video of her first jump ever!

She loved swimming and would just randomly jump in the water or walk in from the land to take a dip to cool off!

She also loved to sit on my lap in my float in the water!  I would never have guessed!!!  She swam right up to my float and climbed on and then just stayed for at least 10 minutes.   It was hysterical!

By the end of the trip, she could hardly move since she had worn herself out!  Here she is asleep on the boat with about 10 people on the boat.  Normally, she would have been so excited with all of these people around, but she just couldn't keep up anymore!

We can't wait to go back and take her again!  She was so well behaved all weekend since she was able to use up all of her energy!
