This time last year...

This time last year, almost exactly, we were doing this!  Crazy!!

 I love this picture!
Thank you Melissa, our doula, for taking it!  I remember thinking at this point, "Wow, this isn't too bad.  Brad was massaging my back and head and Melissa was massaging my legs and feet!"

Not too long after this picture was taken, we headed to the hospital for the first time!  The car ride was awful.  We were admitted to triage and stayed there all through the night.  Eventually, I came home to continue laboring since I wasn't making any progress fast.

That's when the rest of these photos were taken...the next day, 27 or so hours into my labor.  Mom and Emily came over for moral and physical support!  Brad and I were exhausted.

I didn't shower, I was just too tired.
Still no epidural at this point (obviously since we were back at home!)

Still laughing ?!?

One last look at Annie's (unfinished) room while laboring.

The very last belly pics! Weird!

I love the above picture too!  It taken right before we left for the hospital for the second time, 32 hours into labor.
So tired and in so much pain.

This was one of the last pictures taken before my c-section, 44 hours in labor.

This entire month of July has been full of such wonderful memories remembering just what we were doing this time last year!  As I think back about labor, I can't remember what the pain felt like just like everyone says, but I do remember that it hurt really, really bad, and that I was really, really tired by the end of it.  But, I  also know that I would do it all over again!  It was a sweet time with Brad and an exciting time knowing that my body was working (sort of) and that Annie was coming.

And after labor, she was here, so healthy and perfect!  Our time in the hospital was some of the sweetest, most relaxing days of my life!  I have "warm and fuzzy" feelings about the entire time we were there bonding with Annie, becoming a family, and introducing our beautiful baby girl to all of our family and friends!

Melissa wrote out my birth story here.  I started a very detailed account from my own perspective but never finished...maybe I can go back and finish it up to post one day soon!

What a Difference a Year Makes!

This day, July 16 of last year was my due date with Annie, and although she was not born until July 28th, we anticipated the 16th for 9 long months!!

If you remember, I was taking long walks on the treadmill trying to put my body into labor.  Layla insisted on joining me which was so sweet!

Well, it's a year later and things sure have changed around here!  The treadmill is still a big hit for Layla and Annie has been watching.  Now, she likes to walk on it too!  So, a year later, Annie and Layla are keeping up good habits around here!  How cute are they!?!  Now, if only I could make myself get on the treadmill too on a regular basis!

As you can see, baby speed of 1.0 is a little slow for Layla, but I have no doubt that Annie will speed up soon enough!

I can't believe my baby's almost one!

11 Months

Annie is now 11 months old!!  She is acting like such a big girl these days and learning something new every single day!!

Annie's unofficial 11 month stats are:

Weight:  lbs 55%
Height: 29 3/4" 85%
Head Circumference: ?

Here is a look back at her 10 month photo!

At the very beginning of this month, Annie finally started crawling!

She has enjoyed moving herself around the room to retrieve different toys or come to one of us, but, she still does not just crawl all over the house.   Instead of taking off with crawling, Annie focused all of her attention on walking this month!!!!!!

Rollin's 2nd birthday party!  All the little boys love Annie already and tell me how pretty she is!  Oh my!  We are in trouble!  This little guy followed Annie around and helped her walk and play!

Over the course of this month, Annie has progressed from using 1 of our hands and walking beside us to now being able to walk completely on her own!!  She still prefers to walk with 1 of our hands, but she is definitely able to walk on her own.   She can cross an entire room if she stays focused on her balance and walking!   All we do is walk, walk, walk!!!

Annie also learned to pull herself up to a standing position this month.   She does this all the time in her crib and jumps like a monkey :)  She also pulls herself up on furniture and can move from one piece of furniture to another.

She loves to stand at an open drawer and load and unload its contents!

First time to discover the tubberware drawer!

And the cellophane!

Her balance has improved dramatically and she can now stand still on her own for a long period of time.  She can also bend over to pick up an object while only holding one of our hands or bracing herself on furniture.

Diaper wedgie!!!

Annie still loves to walk with her baby walker or push her car or stroller, but she just moves much faster than she once did!  She is very steady doing any of this and can now change directions or turn herself around all by herself!

Annie discovered the stairs and now loves to walk up the stairs on her own while holding onto my hands!  (I don't let her walk down them!  Too dangerous.)  She leans back into me and lifts up her little legs!  Some days, we walk up the stairs again and again.  Hopefully, its a good workout for me!

Annie's hair continues to come in blond, thick, and beautiful!!  It has now gotten long enough that it has little flippies in the back and on the sides!  So sweet and beautiful!  JoJo said Brad's hair was the exact same way as a little baby!   Brad has beautiful hair so Annie will be lucky if she ends up with hair just like his!

Annie has been learning how to properly use different items!  She likes to brush her hair with both her brush and her comb!  She also loves for me to brush her hair!  She holds my iPhone up to her head as if talking, and she has been learning how to use a spoon while eating!!   She also knows that her shoes belong on her feet and she will try to put them on!

Annie loves to drive anything, but most especially a real car!!

Love this expression!

As for eating, Annie is still an excellent eater and the most healthy eater I know!!  We still share cereal in the mornings and our green smoothie at lunch.  Otherwise, Annie loves almost all vegetables and most fruits unless they are tart!  She loves to try new foods and likes almost anything that we let her have!   For example, she loved the roasted red peppers that were on our pizza one night.  She loves bread and eats it when we are out to dinner and need to keep her happy or contained!! Annie almost exclusively feeds herself with her pincer grasp.  In fact, she won't really eat the pureed broccoli, cauliflower, squash, etc. that I made her unless she feeds it to herself.  She uses her pointer finger and thumb like little chop sticks and picks up everything!   It is so fun and easy to have a baby who loves to eat good food!  I am thankful!

Best buds!

Brad and Aunt Emmie also taught Annie how to share her food this month!  She now offers bites of whatever she is eating to whomever is around!!  It is so sweet and she gets so excited if you accept!  However, she has been known to spit out a bite and then offer it on occasion!

Crusin and relaxin with Aunt Emmie!

Like I said above, Annie has shown a lot of interest in feeding herself with a spoon.  She "mmm, mmm, mmm's" at me until I give her my spoon.  She then trys to scoop up whatever she is eating.  I have been putting food on her spoon, then handing her the spoon, and she puts it in her mouth.  She loves this and is actually very accurate!

Annie has also LOVED nursing this month which I have loved too!!!  She now asks to nurse by pointing at her chair in her room with her chin!  If I sit down to nurse, she smiles, coos, and gets excited!  We nurse before and after almost every nap time and, we nurse in the morning, before bed, and still do a dream feed.  I continue to love nursing and don't want to give it up any time soon!

Annie is still sleeping great too!!  Her naps have become longer ranging from 2-2.5 hours twice a day on most days!  I think the longer naps are because she is working so hard crawling, walking, standing up, and developing!  She also sleeps through the night for about 12 hours each night.

Annie is SO full of personality and laughter these days!!  She has learned to fake cough and will usually cough if we ask her if she has a "baby cough!"  It is absolutely hysterical every single time and we cannot get enough!!!!  She also uses her laughter to get people's attention.  She will laugh very loudly at us or any stranger that she wants to have their attention.  It is a very sweet, effective, and fun way to interact with others!

She still loves to dance all the time and always asks for the music by looking at the iPhone or speakers and bobbing her head or bouncing up and down!

Annie has become almost obsessed with my facial features!  She puts her fingers in my ears, trys to put her entire hand in my mouth, grabs my nose, and grabs my eyes, eyelashes, and eyebrows all the time!  I am teaching her the name of each feature, and she knows where my nose is if I ask!  It is so amazing to see her learn and absorb!

And finally, Annie has become a big, big talker!!! She still coos and babbles all the time and points with her chin, but she has also been saying some actual words!  She is great at saying Layla like "yay-ya" and knows that she is our dog.

She is great at saying Dada and knows that that is Brad.

She also says "dog" very well and "ba" for bath!  I think I have heard some version of "water" too!  Annie also loves to pray and asks for the blessing by holding out her hand to hold ours many times during each meal!  At the end, she sometimes says something like "amen!"  If I ask Annie if her food is good or delicious, and if she really does like it, she will answer with an emphatic "mmmm!!"  Anytime I saw a word like nose, eye, ball etc.  she always makes some emphatic sound that shows she is trying to say each new word!  It is amazing and so much fun!

Annie also has a way of asking questions.  She looks at me with a confused, questioning look and says something like "hun?".  She does this when she hears something that she either cannot see or doesn't understand like the vacuum or lawn mower outside.  She also does this anytime she is unsure about something.  If I respond and try to explain the sound or situation, she is usually satisfied.  So smart!!

Annie, you are full of life and exude happiness and love all the time!!  We love spending each day with you and are so thankful to have you as our sweetest baby girl!
